Background: Mother of two (2); Grandmother of (4); Professional Artist; Retired Tenured Professor, Bennett College; BS, MS NCA&T State University; Ph.D. The Ohio State University; Active member, New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.


In 1987 Adams was elected by the citizens of District 2 to represent North East Greensboro on the Greensboro City Council, where she served for nine (9) years until going to the North Carolina House in 1994. Prior to her service in the General Assembly, Adams served for one term on the Greensboro City School Board where she was a strong advocate for quality education and the first African American woman elected to that body.
